SSD: Intel 540 Series 240GB M.2 SSD
RAM: Corsair 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 2133

Spent the weekend building 4 NEW Workstations only to find out Windows 10 would not install and would stop at “Getting files ready for installation (xx%)”

It would stop anywhere from 3% to 77%.

I had initially thought it was a failed SSD M.2 Drive. Because I had 4 new workstations to build I was able to use hardware from the other system to test with.

Installed another SSD M.2 Drive and had the same results.

At this stage, I was suspecting it may be a mother board issue. Installed and Standard SATA SSD Drive and Windows 10 successfully installed.

Tested the installation on the other 3 workstations with the same results. Installation would stop at “Getting files ready for installation (xx%)”

Some other steps I had done.

1. Flash BIOS to latest Version (F6)
2. Changed many different settings in BIOS (SATA Settings)(Graphics RAM Size)
3. Changed from installation from BIOS to UEFI
4. Tried installation Windows 7 (Fail at the same stage, Expanding Windows Files (xx%))
5. Different CPU – i5 6^th Generation. This actually got a little further but still failed to install
6. Single Channel RAM and Dual Channel RAM
7. Memtest (ALL STICKS OF RAM PASS)
8. Different brand PSU
9. Different Wattage PSU (350/450/500)
10. Use Intel  540 480GB SSD M.2 (Same failed results)
11. Could not test with another branded m.2 drive
12. Lots of Coffee

As of 24^th May 2017 the issue still exist. I had to replace all M.2 Drive with Intel 540 Standard SATA SSD Drive and can confirm that works.

Also, I had built a similar system the week before, but using Gigabyte GA-Z270-HD3 Motherboard without any issues!
